#THISISAFAKEFILTER

October 14th, 2016 - Washington Square Park, New York

Social media at times enact as a way of expressing fantasy.

We utilize filters to adjust color, brightness, saturation and contrast to make our photos more attractive to others. We want to post a perfect moment, a moment that we want our viewers to applaud.  But indeed we create an avatar for ourselves for others to look at. By using social media, we assign our own illusory visual to the viewers.

Social media could be an excellent platform to express our social identity, but social media is a constrained way of representing of what reality is.

Is it true that sometimes we fool ourselves by looking at our own social media?

Get in here, and take a photo from outside. Look at yourself like a stranger browsing through your phone.
